About Stephen Robling
I have nearly 20 years’ experience of providing short and longer-term counselling.
I have a diploma in Counselling from the Gestalt Centre, London and am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also a trained EMDR practitioner and a qualified counselling supervisor.
I work with a wide range of presenting issues, including: anger, anxiety and depression, bereavement/loss, personal development, relationships and sexual abuse.
As an Accredited member of the BACP, I am bound by the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, which includes the requirement to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
Though my original counselling training was Gestalt, I have since broadened my counselling approach – drawing on other ways of working such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), EMDR and life-coaching.
Before training as a counsellor, I volunteered on HIV/AIDS help lines in the United States and the UK. Since qualifying, I have run anger management groups (Greenwich Mind) and facilitated groups for gay men living with HIV (PACE, London).
My work experience includes:
- Policy advisor for the Women and Equality;
- Disability Employment Advisor for JobCentrePlus;
- Manager in the private, public and voluntary sectors;
- Chief Officer, Community Counselling (2010 to present).
